NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) has launched the Third-Party Elevator Inspection Pilot Program, in effect from June 1 through December 31, 2025. Under this new program, all acceptance tests for new installations, alterations, and modernizations must be witnessed by an independent third-party elevator agency — one not affiliated with the contractor performing the work.
